“ Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.“ Philippians 1:6
Confidence. What does that look like? My husband has confidence. You can give him any ‘what would wifey do’ scenario, and he will tell you the right answer. He is an expert on the subject. If we go out to dinner he knows exactly what I am going to order from the menu. Choices between movies, activities, chores, nothing stumps him!
Am I really that predictable? Or could it simply be that for more 20 years I have been his subject, and he has been my confident, engaged student?
Would my hubby’s level of confidence in the subject change if I were to replace wifey with God? Would yours?
As impressive as my husband’s confidence in the subject of ‘all things wifey’, it pales in comparison to God’s confidence in us. We are God’s creation: “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I sanctified you…” (Jeremiah 1:5). It is with this kind of depth and intensity that God confidently knows and loves each one of us. So WHEN the verse says God began a good work in you, and He will complete it, THAT is a promise to us.
Your God given purpose, your good work, is waiting to be accomplished. Go in confidence. And if you get stuck, go back and study the subject.
