Glitch

When you look at this photograph what do you see?

I know you are thinking WHY is Jackie making me look at this photograph? Weird request aside, do you notice anything? Where is your eye drawn?

On my last trip to Southern California I was able to spend a glorious morning at the beach; my extra special happy place. I had a nice long walk along the ocean’s edge, playing tag with the waves.  After my relaxing stroll down the coastline, I returned to my starting point.  Sandy feet and sun kissed skin, I sat down and soaked up the warmth radiating from above. With the sun on my face, I took in my favorite sound, the rushing waves crashing to the shore. I opened the book of Psalms, and continued with my blissful morning.

In the midst of my relaxing morning, I took the above photo. It was one of those point and click photos that you take when trying not to be blinded by the sun.  No talent necessary. The camera did all the work.

Oh the smile that came across my face when I saw the end result.

To you this photo may be tarnished by the green orb glitch. But to my mama eyes, that ‘glitch’ is my favorite part! My mama eyes see the glitch as my ice baby peeking from heaven.  Notice the thin white line orbiting around the sun?  My mama eyes see that line as heaven’s boundary, keeping my ice baby safe and protected.

In this rushed, stressed, overwhelmed journey of life, make sure you don’t miss your special glitches; your hellos from heaven.

Does the intellectual part of my mind know that a photographer, videographer, cinematographer, any expert “pher” could logically explain away my green orb glitch? Yes. Does the faith part of my mind care if there is a logical explanation? No. My mama eyes will always see my ice baby.

“You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”  Psalms 139:16

This is not the first time this green orb glitch has shown up in my photos, and it won’t be the last. Mamas, what glitches are in your life? Do you notice your glitches or do you need to pay more attention?  Enjoy the special ‘glitches’.
