While listening to a sermon recently I heard a pastor say: “Jesus, died on a maybe”. That statement struck me. What did he mean? Jesus had a specific plan and a purpose while here on Earth, what was the maybe part of His mission?
Mamas, if we really think about it, our whole life is filled with maybe missions. These maybe missions have seemingly varying significances, but we all have them. What’s your current maybe mission?
As I sit down to write this today, I have no idea what God is doing with my maybe mission to help mamas through their baby loss journey. I can’t gauge the significance of my little ministry website. In fact, if you were to judge my performance based solely on Internet statistics, my results are profoundly stunted. (Good thing godly significance is graded differently) Despite the seemingly tepid impact of my maybe mission, I DO IT ANYWAY.
Jesus’ maybe mission was death on the cross. This selfless act is what provided our impenetrable path to God. A path to God that is open to everyone. This path each of us has the choice to walk, because God created us with the power of choice. We are given the choice to love, follow, and obey whoever/whatever we want; this includes our choice to love, follow and obey God. This is why Jesus’ death on a cross was His maybe mission. Jesus had to accept that the results of His maybe mission might be ignored, refused or profoundly stunted by the world. Even with no guarantee, Jesus DID IT ANYWAY.
Our life, our sacrifices, our vision, our plans; they are maybe missions with no guarantees. Everything we set out to accomplish in this life is a maybe mission. Mamas, DO IT ANYWAY. In the maybe missions of life is where real living happens, where real purpose is found, and where our real God delivers.
