I am dedicating my 100th post my closest ally, my best friend in the whole world… my sister. As the older sister, I had an instant friend when she was born, and the added bonus of having someone to boss around my entire life. According to my mom, I also did all the talking when we were little. As a toddler, my little sister even had to be bribed with treats to talk on her own. My sister and I went from sharing a bedroom through childhood, to growing up and sharing our families.
My sister and I started our families at the same time. The year she was pregnant with my twin nieces (the bubbies), was the same year I went through in-vitro and lost twelve of my babies. It was after this heartbreaking year that my sister gave me the best earthly gift possible. She …
LETS
ME
BE
MOM
From their first breath, my bubbies, have known me as Mimi, their second mom.
When my bubbies were four years old, they told their preschool teacher I was their second mom. The teacher thought they were saying ‘stepmom’ and corrected them saying, “No, that is your aunt.” My bubbies didn’t know that word yet. I was not aunt. I was Mimi and I was their second mom.
Mimi is my most cherished title I hold. My sister’s open-ended selfless gift keeps my heart full and my life purpose driven.
“You parents– If your children ask for a loaf of BREAD, do you give them a stone instead?
Or if they ask for a FISH, do you give them a snake?
Of course not!
So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.”
Matthew 7:9-11 NLT
My sister is my BREAD and FISH. I am blessed beyond measure, because she shares her greatest earthly treasure.
Mamas, who’s in your BREAD and FISH? Have you told them lately? Please honor my 100th posting with the following kindness challenge:
Whether you are the hurting mama, or the ‘little sister’,
share an act of kindness today for your own special bread and fish friend.
Make sure they know just how much they mean to you.
(And please send me a message and tell me about it)
